Small Vessel Disease
This is a condition in which the small arteries of the heart become narrowed. Symptoms are similar to those of heart disease, such as chest pain or shortness of breath. It is usually diagnosed when a doctor is checking for blockages in the larger arteries of the heart. It is treatable, but can be hard to detect. Risk factors include being female, being over 55 if female and 45 if male, smoking, being inactive, estrogen deficiency in women and others. Treatment includes medicine because the affected veins are usually too small for surgery.
